Abstract

The aim of the present research was to predict organizational trust-building based on emotional intelligence, with psychological empowerment mediating among teachers in the city of Shiraz. The research method was descriptive correlation. The statistical population included teachers from all educational levels in Shiraz in 2023, of which 250 elementary school teachers were selected as a sample using a multi-stage cluster random sampling method. The data collection tools included questionnaires for psychological empowerment by Thomas and Velthuizen (1990), organizational trust by Pyn (2003), and emotional intelligence by Goleman (2001). Data analysis was performed using SPSS26 software and Lisrel version 8.8, employing path analysis methods. The findings indicated that the components of emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management) have a positive and direct impact on the components of psychological empowerment (feeling competent, feeling autonomous, feeling effective, feeling meaningful) and that the components of psychological empowerment also have a direct and positive impact on trust-building. Finally, the components of emotional intelligence have a positive and indirect influence on trust-building through the mediation of the components of psychological empowerment. Overall, the results showed that psychological empowerment plays a mediating role in the relationship between trust-building and emotional intelligence (P<0.05). Based on this result, it is suggested that specific educational programs be implemented to enhance teachers' emotional intelligence in organizations, and that managers should seriously consider employees' ideas and strengthen their trust to bolster empowerment among teachers despite competition.
