Abstract

The issue of employment and unemployment of youth and university graduates is considered one of the most important social challenges of the last decade. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to translate and validate the Hong and Choi Employment Hope Scale (2013). The method of this study was descriptive and correlational. For this purpose, 263 students from universities and non-profit institutions in Mashhad were selected using multi-stage cluster random sampling and completed the Hong and Choi Employment Hope Questionnaires (2013), Bouffard et al. Educational Goal Orientation (1998), and Hartz Educational Motivation (1981). The internal consistency of the Employment Hope Scale items showed that this scale has acceptable and very good reliability. Also, the validity of the Employment Hope Scale was examined through construct validity (using confirmatory factor analysis), convergent validity, and concurrent validity, and the results indicated that the translated Employment Hope Scale has very good validity. In general, the results indicated that the Employment Hope Scale has good validity and reliability and can be used as a useful tool for measuring employment hope in students.
