Background and Aim: Burnout in nurses is much higher than other occupations due to their emotional labor. The aim of this study was to investigate the moderating role of core self-evaluations in the relationship between types of emotional labor and burnout in nurses in Khorramabad hospitals. Research method: The research method was correlation. The study population was all nurses working in 5 public hospitals in Khorramabad, from which 185 individuals were selected by convenience sampling method and answered the questionnaires of emotional labor, burnout and core self-evaluations. Then the analyzable data of 171 samples were analyzed using linear regression and Hayes process. Results: The findings of the present study showed that among the two types of emotional labor, only surface action has a significant positive relationship with burnout. Also in this study, the moderating role of core self-evaluations in the relationship between both types of emotional labor and burnout was confirmed. Conclusion: In general, the results of this study, in addition to confirming the relationship between emotional labor and burnout, showed that the nature of the relationship between emotional labor and burnout in nurses depends on their core self-evaluations and nurses who have high core self-evaluations and use surface action to manage their emotions, more than nurses who have low core self-evaluations suffer from burnout.
